CE787 - Baroque FSL Edging
This piece of Free-standing Lace was designed with the idea of making antimaccassars. I tried to match the wood-carving on the back-rest of the chair and although its not exact, I am still happy with the result :) This design would look good on any padded arm-rest or back-rest and is very easy to do.

I measured the size I wanted for the antimassassar for an arm-rest - 33cm wide x 38cm long. This measurement includes a 3cm hem right round. The antimaccassar fits loosely on top of the arm-rest. I used a white crease-resistant fabric to make the antimaccassars. I made these first. Then I stitched out the FSL design on water-soluble stabilizer using thread on top and on the bobbin to match the fabric.
DO NOT rinse the lace at this stage.
Now stitch the FSL to one end of the antimaccassar. I used a zig-zag stitch on my sewing-machine in matching thread.
Next, rinse out the antimaccassar to remove the wss from the lace. Press using a damp cloth if necessary when dry.
To make your antimaccassars, measure your couch or chair and decide what size looks best.
Please see my Basic Lace Tutorial for any help. I stitched out just 1 piece of lace per antimaccassar.
